Chevrolet MyLink - Unlock

YOU ASSUME ALL RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY, THERE IS A CHANCE YOU COULD BRICK YOUR MYLINK

however; this was all tested on my own MyLink and worked great! If you are under warranty it should be no problem to have it replaced, just don't go tell them you were messing with things.

NOTE:

Some People have Reported, that they lose backup camera with the update to 24.5. You may need to downgrade back to your previous firmware. Please look at system version and write it down incase you need to go back.

Preparation:

unzip the contents of this Mylink Unlock.zip to a flashdrive [at least 4gb]

Upgrade Firmware:

  1. Turn key to on position but don't start
  2. Click Home
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click System Version
  5. If it is 24.5 Next section if not continue [reportedly working on 24.1]
  6. Click Home
  7. Insert Flashdrive [see above in preparation]
  8. You will be prompted to update Mylink to 24.5
  9. Follow on screen prompts and let it update.
  10. Mylink should restart when finished
  11. Go back to step 1 to check System Version
-note: your firmware is now 24.5, BUT your volume controls are now broken. If you just want the updated firmware without mirrorlink or without video in motion, goto the section labeled Steering Wheel Control Fix Below.

Enable Development Mode:

  1. Turn car to ON postiion
  2. On Mylink
  3. Click Home
  4. Tap upper left hand corner 10 times (I usually just hit it until develpment mode shows up)
  5. Enter 20110827
  6. Tap Submit (it should not actually do anything on that screen)
  7. Tap Back
  8. Tap Settings
  9. Scroll down 3 times
  10. Tap Develpment mode (if there is no development mode then you entered the code wrong go back to step 4)

Add Mirror Link:

  1. Enable Development Mode [see above]
  2. Insert Flash Drive
  3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
  4. Scroll Down 2 times
  5. Tap Explorer Mode
  6. Double Click My Device
  7. Double Tap MD [this is your flash drive]
  8. Click Mirror Link Folder
  9. Click Edit View
  10. Click Options
  11. In the Dialog Box uncheck all boxes
  12. Click on ClientAppInfo.bin
  13. Click Edit
  14. Click Copy
  15. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  16. Double Click Storagecard
  17. Double Click System
  18. Click Edit
  19. Click Paste
  20. Dialog box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  21. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  22. Double Click Storagecard2
  23. Double Click System
  24. Click Edit
  25. Click Paste
  26. Dialog box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  27. Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode [see below]
  28. Click Home
  29. Click Smartphone Link
  30. Mirror Link should now be present
-note: you may have to unhide the application in settings of Smartphone Link

Add Video in Motion:

  1. Enable Development mode [see above]
  2. Insert Flashdrive
  3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
  4. Scroll Down Twice
  5. Tap Explorer Mode
  6. Double Click My Device
  7. Double Click MD
  8. Double Click Video in Motion
  9. Click MgrMcm.exe
  10. Click Edit
  11. Click Copy
  12. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  13. Double Click Storagecard
  14. Double Click System
  15. Click Edit
  16. Click Paste
  17. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  18. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  19. Double Click Storagecard2
  20. Double Click System
  21. Click Edit
  22. Click Paste
  23. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  24. Restart Sequence from Explorer Mode [see below]
  25. Test Steering Wheel Controls to make sure they work Should be working!
  26. Test Back up camera if applicable Should be Working!
  27. Test Video in Motion Should be Working!

Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode:

  1. Tap Start
  2. Tap Suspend
  3. Turn car off
  4. Take out key
  5. Open door
  6. Close door
  7. Using Remote Lock Twice
  8. Wait 30-40 Seconds
  9. Using Remote Unlock Car (if you don't do this step the alarm will go off)
  10. Turn Car to on Position
  11. You should now be back to normal mylink

Steering Wheel Control Fix:

If you do not want video in motion, but just wanted the upgraded firmware please follow the below steps to get Steering Wheel Controls Back
1. Enable Development Mode [see above]
2. Insert Flashdrive
3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
2. Scroll Down Twice
3. Tap Explorer Mode
4. Double Click My Device
5. Double Click MD
7. Double Click Steering Wheel Control Fix
8. Click MgrMcm.exe
9. Click Edit
10. Click Copy
11. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
12. Double Click Storagecard
13. Double Click System
14. Click Edit
15. Click Paste
16. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
17. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
18. Double Click Storagecard2
19. Double Click System
20. Click Edit
21. Click Paste
22. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
23. Restart Sequence from Explorer Mode [see below]
24. Test Steering Wheel Controls to make sure they work Should be working!
