YOU ASSUME ALL RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY, THERE IS A CHANCE YOU COULD BRICK YOUR MYLINK

however; this was all tested on my own MyLink and worked great! If you are under warranty it should be no problem to have it replaced, just don't go tell them you were messing with things.

NOTE:

Some People have Reported, that they lose backup camera with the update to 24.5. You may need to downgrade back to your previous firmware. Please look at system version and write it down incase you need to go back.

Preparation:

unzip the contents of this Mylink Unlock.zip to a flashdrive [at least 4gb]

Upgrade Firmware:

  1. Turn key to on position but don't start
  2. Click Home
  3. Click Settings
  4. Click System Version
  5. If it is 24.5 Next section if not continue [reportedly working on 24.1]
  6. Click Home
  7. Insert Flashdrive [see above in preparation]
  8. You will be prompted to update Mylink to 24.5
  9. Follow on screen prompts and let it update.
  10. Mylink should restart when finished
  11. Go back to step 1 to check System Version
-note: your firmware is now 24.5, BUT your volume controls are now broken. If you just want the updated firmware without mirrorlink or without video in motion, goto the section labeled Steering Wheel Control Fix Below.

Enable Development Mode:

  1. Turn car to ON postiion
  2. On Mylink
  3. Click Home
  4. Tap upper left hand corner 10 times (I usually just hit it until develpment mode shows up)
  5. Enter 20110827
  6. Tap Submit (it should not actually do anything on that screen)
  7. Tap Back
  8. Tap Settings
  9. Scroll down 3 times
  10. Tap Develpment mode (if there is no development mode then you entered the code wrong go back to step 4)

Add Mirror Link:

  1. Enable Development Mode [see above]
  2. Insert Flash Drive
  3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
  4. Scroll Down 2 times
  5. Tap Explorer Mode
  6. Double Click My Device
  7. Double Tap MD [this is your flash drive]
  8. Click Mirror Link Folder
  9. Click Edit View
  10. Click Options
  11. In the Dialog Box uncheck all boxes
  12. Click on ClientAppInfo.bin
  13. Click Edit
  14. Click Copy
  15. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  16. Double Click Storagecard
  17. Double Click System
  18. Click Edit
  19. Click Paste
  20. Dialog box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  21. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  22. Double Click Storagecard2
  23. Double Click System
  24. Click Edit
  25. Click Paste
  26. Dialog box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  27. Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode [see below]
  28. Click Home
  29. Click Smartphone Link
  30. Mirror Link should now be present
-note: you may have to unhide the application in settings of Smartphone Link

Add Video in Motion:

  1. Enable Development mode [see above]
  2. Insert Flashdrive
  3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
  4. Scroll Down Twice
  5. Tap Explorer Mode
  6. Double Click My Device
  7. Double Click MD
  8. Double Click Video in Motion
  9. Click MgrMcm.exe
  10. Click Edit
  11. Click Copy
  12. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  13. Double Click Storagecard
  14. Double Click System
  15. Click Edit
  16. Click Paste
  17. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  18. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
  19. Double Click Storagecard2
  20. Double Click System
  21. Click Edit
  22. Click Paste
  23. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
  24. Restart Sequence from Explorer Mode [see below]
  25. Test Steering Wheel Controls to make sure they work Should be working!
  26. Test Back up camera if applicable Should be Working!
  27. Test Video in Motion Should be Working!

Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode:

  1. Tap Start
  2. Tap Suspend
  3. Turn car off
  4. Take out key
  5. Open door
  6. Close door
  7. Using Remote Lock Twice
  8. Wait 30-40 Seconds
  9. Using Remote Unlock Car (if you don't do this step the alarm will go off)
  10. Turn Car to on Position
  11. You should now be back to normal mylink

Steering Wheel Control Fix:

If you do not want video in motion, but just wanted the upgraded firmware please follow the below steps to get Steering Wheel Controls Back
1. Enable Development Mode [see above]
2. Insert Flashdrive
3. If prompted to update firmware hit cancel
2. Scroll Down Twice
3. Tap Explorer Mode
4. Double Click My Device
5. Double Click MD
7. Double Click Steering Wheel Control Fix
8. Click MgrMcm.exe
9. Click Edit
10. Click Copy
11. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
12. Double Click Storagecard
13. Double Click System
14. Click Edit
15. Click Paste
16. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
17. Click Back Arrow at the top twice
18. Double Click Storagecard2
19. Double Click System
20. Click Edit
21. Click Paste
22. Dialog Box will pop up, Click Yes to All
23. Restart Sequence from Explorer Mode [see below]
24. Test Steering Wheel Controls to make sure they work Should be working!

Chevrolet MyLink - Development Mode

Custom Mylink Startup Screens

ONLY KNOWN TO WORK ON 2012-2015 Chevy Mylink AT YOUR OWN RISK
In theory your could potentially brick your MyLink doing this, everything you do once you enter development mode you accept all responsibility for your actions. It has happened to a few and all were covered under warranty, just don't go telling them what you did. You are on your own if you brick your unit.

Enable Development Mode

  1. Turn car to ON postiion
  2. On Mylink
  3. Click Home
  4. Tap upper left hand corner 10 times (I usually just hit it until develpment mode shows up)
  5. Enter 20110827
  6. Tap Submit (it should not actually do anything on that screen)
  7. Tap Back
  8. Tap Settings
  9. Scroll down 3 times

Back up Factory Animation Screens

  1. Enable Development Mode (look above)
  2. Scroll down 2 times
  3. Tap Explorer Mode
  4. Insert USB Flash Drive
  5. Tap My Device (top left hand corner)
  6. Tap NORDATA
  7. Tap and drag over Startup_ani_1.avi & Startup_ani_2.avi
  8. Tap Edit (top left hand corner)
  9. Tap Copy
  10. Tap <- Back arrow all the way back to the my device (top middle)
  11. Tap MD (this is your flash drive)
  12. Tap Edit
  13. Tap Paste
  14. Do Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode
Note 1: You'll want to save those files someplace safe so you can always go back (I have created a folder on my flashdrive with them in it, and each individual custom screen I download I put in a seperate folder because they all have the same file name.)
Note 2: We have saved the Factory Animations in the files section just in case.

Restart Sequence From Explorer Mode

  1. Tap Start
  2. Tap Suspend
  3. Turn car off
  4. Take out key
  5. Open door
  6. Close door
  7. Using Remote Lock Twice
  8. Wait 30-40 Seconds
  9. Using Remote Unlock Car (if you don't do this step the alarm will go off)
  10. Turn Car to on Position
  11. You should now be back to normal mylink

Adding Custom Startup_ani_1.avi to Mylink:

AT YOUR OWN RISK
1. Download the custome start screen from the files section.
2. Make sure it is names "Startup_ani_1.avi" (without quotes")
3. Copy it onto a USB flash drive
4. Enable Development Mode
5. Scroll down 2 times
6. Tap Explorer Mode
7. Insert USB Flash Drive
8. Tap My Device (top left hand corner)
9. Tap MD (this is your flash drive)
10. Go to the file you wish to be your start screen named Startup_ani_1.avi
11. Tap it 1 time
12. Tap edit (top left hand corner)
13. Tap Copy
14. Tap <- Back arrow all the way back to the my device (top middle)
15. Tap NORDATA
16. Tap Edit
17. Tap Paste
18. A popup will come up click Yes To All (its asking if you want to replace the file)
19. let it finish copying the file
20. Click start
21. Click Suspense
22. Do Restart Sequence (look above)
23. You should now see your startup animation if you did the above steps correctly.
Note 1: If the file isn't compatible or corrupt for whatever reason, you will see the ghost mylink screen until mylink loads.
Note 2: If the mylink remains on the ghost image and doesn't load mylink, redo the restart sequence or walk away for a few minutes and then come back. The one time this happened it loaded when I came back to the car.
Note 3: If the mylink boot loops as in shows the ghost screen might show the startup animation, and then loops over and over, you have successfully bricked your mylink.
Note 4: if mylink is black or white or doesn't come on at all, you have bricked your mylink.
Note 5: I don't know of anyone that has bricked the mylink just from playing with startup animations, the brick I have seen was due to trying to enable mirrorlink using the russian youtube videos.
If you BRICK your mylink, I hope your warranty is still intact, mylinks aren't crazy expensive on ebay, but I wouldn't want to have to buy a new one, and whatever you do don't tell them what you were doing, just tell them it quit working or it started doing this...

Nuevos Espejos laterales para la RAM

Luego de haber prácticamente "volado" el espejo del lado pasajero de la RAM decidí reemplazarlo.

 Obvio la primer opción fue llamar al concesionario oficial Chrysler y pedir precio local del reemplazo, Una locura casi AR$ 15.000 pesos por este espejo básico.

 Ante esta situación busque en USA el reemplazo y ahí encontré también los del tipo Towing Mirrors que me parecieron mucho mejores en cuanto a visualización y además con características adicionales que mejoraban mucho a los originales.

Y todo esto a solo U$D 432.- el par. En pesos AR$ 6.400 aprox y puestos acá en Buenos Aires salieron AR$ 1.000 pesos más. es decir AR$ 7.400.-

Las luces de trabajo en las puntas, las de largo alcance hacia el centro y en el medio iluminando hacia atrás un faro de alcance medio, muy útil en retrocesos nocturnos.

Herramientas para Predicción de Propagación

 

El siguiente recurso online permite hacer una estimación de las condiciones de propagación actuales y también futuras de las condiciones de propagación:

 Recomiendo leer el manual online para entender mejor los parámetros.

 También el uso de los pronósticos de propagación del NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) de Norteamérica WWV, WWVH y WWVB. 

 Estas son estaciones de transmisión que emiten entre otra información, la hora UTC precisa, tonos de audio patrón y adicionalmente el pronóstico de las condiciones de propagación para las próximas 24 horas.

Proyecto Interface para Digimodos

Luego de buscar en la web decidí combinar dos diseños que me gustaron y armé la siguiente interfaz la cual funciona muy bien con MixW.


Yo lo conecte a mi Kenwood TS850SAT usando el ACC2 DIN de 13 pines detras del equipo:

Aquí conectaremos los siguientes pines:

PIN 3 - RX Audio
PIN 4 - MASA/Blindaje del RX Audio
PIN 8 - MASA del Chasis (Usado como masa del PTT)
PIN 9 - PTT (Micrófono es silenciado cuando se usa este pin)
PIN 11 - Audio MIC
PIN 12 - MASA/Blindaje del Micrófono

Como información Adicional el resto de los pines del ACC2 de Kenwood:

PIN 1 y 2 - No Conectados
PIN 5 - Squelch Control o No Conectado
PIN 6 - S-Mete4r Output o No Conectado
PIN 7 - No Conectado
PIN 10 - No Conectado
PIN 13 - PTT (Micrófono es activado cuando se usa este pin)

18 de Abril - Dia Mundial del Radioaficionado



El próximo 18 de Abril es el día mundial del radio aficionado que se conmemora el día que se fundo la IARU en 1925.

De los 25 países iniciales, la organización creció a más de 160 sociedades nacionales miembro en las tres regiones.

La Unión Internacional de Telecomunicaciones (UIT) reconoce que la IARU representa los intereses de la radio afición y que hoy somos más de 3 millones en todo el mundo.

El Día Mundial de la Radio afición es aprovechado por muchos clubes, grupos y colegas para mostrar nuestra actividad al público y promover la incorporación de nuevos radio aficionados. Es el día en que le contamos al mundo acerca de las diversas tecnologías relacionadas con nuestra actividad, el servicio comunitario que podemos proporcionar y lo mucho que nos divertimos.

El próximo sábado, el RCA estará en el aire con su estación LU4AA e invita a todos los radio aficionados a contactar con dicha estación.

    Que he hecho hoy para promover la actividad?


    Todos los radio aficionados debemos ser cada uno responsables y aportar nuestro granito de arena para mantener esta interesante afición viva.

    Una actividad mediante la cual se socializa, se aprende y se acercan personas y culturas a través del éter.

    En lo personal hay que apuntar a los mas jóvenes y despertarles la curiosidad el interés en este tipo de actividades en un mundo plagado del facilismo tecnológico y el ocio.

    Bueno aquí arrancando el blog y para empezar que mejor que un Field Day! Si el del LU5DA acordado para el fin de semana del 17, 18 y 19 de Abril desde la localidad de Manzanares, PILAR.

     Por mi lado ya comenzando con los preparativos, equipos a llevar, antenas para probar, y el mejor animo para disfrutar con los colegas no solo de buenos comunicados sino también de buenas comilonas (Esperemos...)
